LANGHORNE, PA – Another 6-0 win for Cairn Women's Soccer over Keystone on Saturday was enough to clinch their second straight United East postseason bid.
Prior to the match, seniors Julia Brustle (Abington, PA / Abington),
Em Kuansongtham (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) and fifth year
Kathryn Reid (Boonville, NY / South Lewis) were honored for the numerous contributions to the Cairn Women's Soccer program.
Sophomore forward
Paige Noble (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ / Atlantic Christian) got the scoring spree started in the seventh minute, breaking away for her sixth goal of the season. Freshman defender
Macie Starr (Cleveland, TN / Walker Valley) added another just two minutes later (9'), assisted by Noble who found her through the midfield. Classmate
Juliana Condurso (Brick, NJ / Calvary Academy) added a third for Cairn (5-7-1 / 5-2 UNITED EAST), assisted by Kuansongtham who gave her an open look on the right side of the box. Kuansongtham would then get her turn on Senior Day, scoring off of a good touch by Noble who sent her off to the races for her second goal of the season. Closing out the first half, Condurso fired away again with success, for her team-leading seventh goal of the season, as sophomore forward
Ella Quince (Morrisville, PA / Morrisville) and Kuansongtham worked to get her open starting in their own defensive half with a great lead pass to give the Highlanders a 5-0 lead going to the break.
In the second half, freshman forward
Josey Smith (Levittown, PA / Pennsbury) netted a goal, assisted by Kuansongtham and freshman midfielder
Gianna Manning (Newport News, VA / Page) to reach a six-goal lead as Cairn picked up their fifth conference win.
On the day, Kuansontham finished with a goal and three assists for five points on her senior day while Condurso had a pair of goals and Noble collected a goal and two assists while Smith also scored. Manning and Quince also picked up assists. Junior goalkeeper
Elizabeth Cobb (Cortland, NY / Cortland Christian) and sophomore goalkeeper
Rhian Erspamer (Valparaiso, IN / Victory Christian) picked up the combined shutout with 45 minutes of work apiece while the Cairn defense held Keystone (2-10 / 0-6 UNITED EAST) to two shots on the game and without a try for goal in the first half.
Cairn Women's Soccer clinches a postseason appearance for the sixth-straight season spanning back to 2018 with their second consecutive United East playoff berth.
The Highlanders will close out the regular season on Saturday at home as they host Penn State Berks at 5 p.m.
