LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn University Women's Basketball team squared off with the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday morning as they dropped the Skye Division battle 80-52.
Notre Dame of Maryland (9-4 / 6-0 United East Skye Division) grabbed an early lead with junior forward
Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS) keeping Cairn (7-5 / 3-3 United East Skye Division) within striking distance with three jump shots. The Highlanders were able to manage to get the Gator lead down to five going into the second quarter.
The Gators scored twelve unanswered points to start the second frame before freshman forward
Dezaray Bright (Keystone Heights, FL / Keystone Heights High School) got Cairn on the board. Notre Dame (MD) pushed back to outscore the Highlanders 15-6 in the remaining six minutes of play, taking a 45-21 lead to the break.

Makayla Raines (Jonesboro, GA / St. Mary's Academy) found Hinson for a jumper followed by Hinson stealing the ball for a fast break layup, cutting the lead to 15. Bryant made another shot as the quarter ended with the Highlanders behind 64-38.
Notre Dame (MD) played downhill in the last quarter, keeping up their scoring drive and keeping the ball out of the hands of the Highlanders through the final horn, taking the contest 80-52.
Hinson led the Highlanders with 22 points and six steals followed by Bryant who added ten points.
Cairn Women's Basketball is back on the road Wednesday, taking on the Cedar Crest College Falcons in Allentown, PA at 7 p.m.
