Women's Basketball: Highlanders Fall On The Road at Keystone

LA PLUME, PA – The Cairn University Women's Basketball team traveled to Keystone College on Wednesday afternoon to play the front-end of the doubleheader against the Giants. Keystone came away with the 66-58 victory.

  • Junior forward Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS) recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
  • Freshman guard Makayla Raines (Jonesboro, GA / St. Mary's Academy) was next with 15 points and four assists.
HOW IT PLAYED OUT
  • Keystone (5-7 / 3-2 United East Skye Division) created a ten-point cushion over the Highlanders in the first quarter before Raines sunk a pair of free throws, keeping Cairn (7-4 / 3-2 United East Skye Division) within single digits entering the second quarter.
  • Raines hit a jumper to get the Giants' lead down to five to open the frame as Keystone fought back to go up as much as 14.
  • In the second half, Keystone pressed their offense forward, setting up a difficult comeback for the Highlanders.
  • Facing an 18-point deficit in the final quarter, the Highlander offense got moving as Hinson scored seven in the frame to get the Keystone lead to within nine before running out of time.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
  • The Highlanders play at home for the first time in 2024 as they take on the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland at 11 a.m. inside the Mason Activity Center on Saturday.
