BROOKLYN, NY – The Cairn University Men's Basketball team faced off with the Pratt Cannoneers in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday night, taking the road victory, 86-61
Cairn (11-7 / 6-4 United East Skye Division) won the tip, getting ahead quickly via senior forwards
Derian Bradford &
Owen Bradford (Lansdale, PA / University of Valley Forge). Pratt (7-11) answered back with force, taking a 13-point lead on three-straight triples. Freshman guard
Jake Zawacki (Kenilworth, NJ / David Brearly) was the answer, splashing a three of his own to swing the momentum back in favor of the visitors, assisted by
Derian Bradford. Bradford would also find sophomore guard
Moses Ilodigwe (Wilmington, DE / Lycoming College) next for a three, cutting the lead in half before Zawacki struck again from deep to make it a one-possession game. Pratt answered back, reestablishing their seven point lead until Ilodigwe made back-to-back threes followed by junior guard
Jonathan Desir (Feasterville, PA / Neshaminy) who took the lead back on a three of his own. The Highlanders would hold on and take a slim 38-35 lead into the break.
The second half opened with more fireworks as junior guard
Christian Rivera (Cayey, Puerto Rico / Central Bucks East) hit from deep followed by Desir again from behind the arc as the Cairn lead pushed double figures. The cushion would be doubled as Pratt searched for answer to the Highlander onslaught of offensive power. Fifth year guard
Josh Forker (Telford, PA / Faith Christian Academy) and Desir each splashed a pair of threes to put the game out of reach for the Cannoneers, leading Cairn to finish on a 17-3 run in the second half, taking the game 86-61.
