Women's Volleyball: Highlanders Drop Non Conference Match with Albright

Reading, PA - The Cairn University Women's Volleyball team headed to Reading to take on the Lions of Albright, dropping the match 3-1 on Thursday night.

Cairn (3-3) brought the attack early, going up 8-4 on Albright (7-1) to begin the first set. Juniors Hendryl Peabody (Bensalem, PA / Faith Baptist Christian Academy) and Caroline Conrad (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) each tallied three kills before the Lions made their comeback. Albright took the lead late and closed the set by a score of 25-20 in their favor and continued their run into the second set, going ahead 5-0. The Highlanders scattered points early until three more kills by Conrad set up freshman middle blocker Rachael Banks (Strugis, SD / Sturgis Brown High School) for a kill to create force set point. Cairn would take set two 25-23. The Highlanders would spark things in the middle of the third set, coming back to take the lead on a Peabody kill, 13-12. Albright's attack would claim the third set 25-18. The fourth set began in favor of the Lions as the Cairn squad found themselves trailing 17-9. Key Albright kills would take the match as the fourth set closed 25-16.

For Cairn, Conrad would lead the attack tonight serving up 12 kills followed by Peabody with 11. Freshman outside hitter Bridget Dahn (Smithsburg, MD / Heritage Academy) would notch six kills of her own. Senior setter Olivia Zepp (Westminster, MD / Francis Scott Key) had a match-high 30 assists with sophomore libero Peyton Cline (Falling Waters, WV / Heritage Academy) would have three assists of her own while gathering 17 digs. 

The Highlander Women's Volleyball team returns home to Langhorne to host Goucher College on Tuesday  at 7 p.m.
