LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University baseball team lost 12-2, in their home opener against non-conference adversary Marywood University inside the G. Patrick Stillman Complex on Wednesday evening.
 
Marywood (1-2) got the bats working early, scoring once in the top of the first inning and twice in the second frame to take a 3-0 lead. The Pacers brought home three more runners in the next two innings, before Cairn (0-4) got on the board courtesy of an RBI-double by sophomore 
Jared Sucro (Kamloops, BC / St. Ann's Academy) in the bottom of the fifth. Marywood put the contest away after scoring the next four runs of the bout. Cairn plated one more runner in the bottom of the eighth after a sacrifice fly by sophomore 
Dylan Jackson (Levittown, PA / Chestnut Hill College).
 
Cairn was led on offense by senior 
Tyler Fox (Boyertown, PA / West-Mont Christian Academy) who reached base four times in the contest courtesy of one hit and three walks. Fox scored both of Cairn's runs in the contest. Sophomore 
Brett Bottinger (Plymouth Meeting, PA / Chestnut Hill College) got the start on the hill for the Highlanders, tossing three innings, scattering nine hits, six runs (five earned) and striking out three. Graduate Student 
Bryan Stimpson (Monroeville, NJ / Cornell University) added a scoreless sixth inning on the bump with a pair of k's.
 
The Highlanders will be back on the diamond on Monday, March 13 when they take on Wells College at 6:30 p.m. in the first contest of a seven-game trip in Myrtle Beach inside Crosley Field at the Ripken Experience.
