WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team lost, 7-2, on the road at non-conference adversary King's College on Thursday afternoon.
Cairn (3-4) grabbed one of the three doubles bouts on the day, as juniors
Abby Horning (Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) and
Gabriella Hurst (Stevens, PA / Cocalico) paired together to snag an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Senior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot) and sophomore
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) put up a battle in the No. 1 doubles spot, falling in tiebreak fashion (8-7). Horning swept her bouts on the day, earning a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Saturday, April 1 when they open up Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play in Allentown against Cedar Crest College at 1 p.m.
