Women's Basketball: Highlanders Close 2023 at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ -  The Cairn University Women's Basketball team finished off 2023 on the road at Centenary as they fell to the former conference foe, 89-65.

  • Junior forward Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS) led all scorers with 24 points, a triple, six rebounds, and five steals.
  • Freshman guard Makayla Rained (Jonesboro, GA / St. Mary's Academy) finished with 19 points and three assists.
How It Played Out
  • Centenary (10-3) got out to an early lead, going up 13 to end the first quarter.
  • Cairn (7-3 / 3-1 United East Skye Division) would cut the lead to five in the second quarter on  a jump shot by freshman forward Dezaray Bright (Keystone Heights, FL / Keystone Heights HS).
  • The Cyclones came back to take a 44-32 lead into halftime and pressed on in the second half, taking the game 89-65.
