PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Cairn University Women's Volleyball team kicked off the Highlanders' Saturday action as they took on Valley Forge, defeating the Patriots 3-0.
Cairn (10-7 / 2-1 United East Skye Division) got started with on a 15-4 run fueled by four kills by junior opposite Hendry Peabody (Bensalem, PA / Faith Baptist Christian Academy). When the Highlanders got the serve back, freshman middle blocker
Georgianna Thorpe (Southampton, PA / William Tenennt) and junior outside hitter
Caroline Conrad (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) picked up two kills apiece which took the first set in favor of Cairn, 25-7.
The Highlanders came out hot to start the second frame, Conrad would record 3 aces along with 3 more kills by Peabody as Cairn build a 15-1 lead out of the gate. Sophomore outside hitter
Abigail Di Sipio (East Earl, PA / Homeschool) would get in on the action, firing off two kills as Cairn took the second set, holding Valley Forge (2-15 / 0-5 United East Skye Division) to only three points in the set (25-3).
Set 3 got underway in similar fashion as freshman middle blocker
Rachael Banks (Sturgis, SD / Sturgis Brown High School) recorded the first kill for Cairn. Conrad would collect another trifecta of aces, this time in a row with the Highlanders going up 8-1. The Patriots showed some fight, cutting the lead to 10-5. Cairn got right back to business as two kills from Conrad took a commanding 21-8 lead. Senior setter

Hannah Garcia (Tempe, AZ / Tempe Preparatory Academy) recording the match point, 25-11 as Cairn took their second conference victory on the week.
Peabody let the attack today with 10 kills. Conrad had six kills and a game-high 6 aces. Zepp and Di Sipio each notched 3 kills with Zepp adding 17 assists. Banks recorded two kills with a block.
The Highlanders host the Eagles of Saint Elizabeth on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they continue United East Skye Division play.
