LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn University Men's & Women's Cross Country teams hosted Chestnut Hill College, Valley Forge, Rutgers-Camden, Bryn Athyn, and Rosemont for the Cairn Cup Men's 8K and Women's 6K races.
Cairn Women's Cross Country raced first. Freshman
Clarisse Hayden (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) placed first atop the podium with her first ever 1
st Place finish with a time of 26:04.4. She was followed shortly after by sophomore
AyliGrace Munro (Bar Harbor, ME / Mount Desert Island HS) who also got on the podium in 3
rd place with a time of 26:33.5. Senior
Jordan Harvey (Chichester, PA / The Christian Academy) placed 8
th (30:16.0). Sophomores
Alizabeth Hayden (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) and
Morgan Steele (Bowie, MD / Estele Christian Academy) came through the finish in 13
th and 14
th place, respectively with times of 32:52.2 and 33:03.6. Sophomore
Kate O'Brien (Lumberton, NJ / Trinity Preparatory) rounded out the Highlander women in 23
rd place clocking in at 37:15.2. The team as a whole placed 1
st overall.
The Men's team ran second at 4 p.m., placing 5
th overall as a team. Freshman
Danny Kushay (Cinnaminson, NJ / Calvary Christian Academy) led the way for the Highlanders once again, placing 9
th and coming through the finish at 31:38.5. Junior
Avian Hall (Brooklyn, NY / Homeschool) came through close behind in 12
th place with a time of 32:20.0. Senior
Nicholas Palladino (Langhorne, PA / Homeschool) placed 16
th (33:47.3) followed by fellow senior
Andrew Higgins (North Hampton, NH / Jesse Remmington High School) in 23
rd place (38:06.2). Senior
Taylor Heim (Levittown, PA / Homeschool) and
Caleb Vargas (Montgomery Village, MD / Watkins Mill) rounded out the field in 27
th and 31
st place with times of 40:21.7 and 48:51.4, respectively.
Following the races, Cairn Cross Country's four seniors (Palladino, Harvey, Heim, and Higgins) were recognized for their achievements and contributions throughout their years of being members of the Cairn Cross Country teams.
The Cairn Cross Country teams host the United East Cross Country Championship late this month on campus, where the entire field of United East Cross Country teams will come to Langhorne to compete for a conference championship. The race is set for Saturday, October 28. More details will be released as the race approaches.
