GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team was on the road Tuesday afternoon, defeating Arcadia University by a score of 7-2 to improve to 2-0 in their non-traditional fall season.
Senior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot HS) and junior
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) secured a 8-3 win in No. 1 doubles while in No. 2 doubles, junior
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and sophomore
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delaware County Christian School) followed-up with a 8-5 victory of their own. Senior
Daphne Neal (Wayne, PA / Delaware County Christian School) and sophomore
Rebekah Hepp rounded out No. 3 doubles with an 8-7 (7-4) win to sweep the doubles round for the Highlanders.
In singles play, Cairn went 4-2 with Kemper and Arcadia's (0-2) Savannah Falk with the Knights coming out on top by a close 3-6, 6-2, 8-10 match in No. 1 singles. Campbell-Robertson made quick work of Arcadia's Kate Wyszkowski (6-0, 6-3), followed by
Ersy Neal taking down the Knights' Gertride Jeack in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 in No. 2 and 3 singles. Junior
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico HS) defeated Arcadia's Link Bertrant in two sets (6-4, 6-1) in No. 4 singles and junior
Gabriella Hurst (Stevens, PA / Cocalico, HS) put away Emma Chobert of Arcadia 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 slot.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, taking on Penn State Abington at home in the McCurdy Tennis Facility at 12 p.m.
