LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team concluded their non-traditional fall season with an unbeaten record of 3-0 following an 8-1 victory over non-conference adversary Penn State Abington University on Thursday.
Cairn (3-0) swept the doubles matches against Penn State Abington (0-3) on the day, led by senior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot HS) and junior
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Junior
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and sophomore
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delaware County Christian School) earned an 8-0 shutout victory in the No. 2 slot, while senior
Daphne Neal (Wayne, PA / Delaware County Christian School) and junior
Gabriella Hurst (Stevens, PA / Cocalico) scored an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Kemper got the Highlanders off to a good start with an 8-2 win at No. 1 singles, and
Ersy Neal followed that up with an 8-0 shutout in the No. 3 slot. Junior
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) posted another 8-0 blanking in the No. 4 slating, while
Daphne Neal earned an 8-1 win at No. 5 singles. Sophomore
Rebekah Hepp rounded out the day for Cairn with an 8-1 win in the No. 6 singles slot.
The Highlanders will now break in preparation for their traditional spring season which will begin in February.
