HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Cairn University women's soccer team saw its two-game win streak come to an end with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Centenary University (NJ) on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Centenary (1-4-1) got things rolling early with a goal in the 14
th minute, and followed that up with a tally in the 16
th minute to take a 2-0 lead early in the contest. Cairn (3-3) got a shot on goal courtesy of junior
Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) in the 27
th minute, but the Cyclones took their 2-0 lead into intermission. Centenary added an insurance goal to put the contest out of reach in the 56
th minute.
Centenary held the advantage in shots (28-6) and bested the Highlanders in corner kicks (5-1) on the day. Junior
Em Kuansongtham (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) paced the Highlander offense on the day with a pair of shots. Sophomore
Jianna Fjording (Copenhagen, Denmark / International Community School) got the star between the pipes, corralling three saves in her first career start, while sophomore
Isabelle Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) hauled in a game-high 10 saves in just under 67 minutes of action.
The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Monday, September 19 when they return to Langhorne for a non-conference bid against Penn State Abington inside the Stillman Complex at 4 p.m.
