LANGHORNE, Pa. – The No. 1 seed Cairn University men's volleyball team won, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-10) at home against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Rosemont College in the CSAC Semifinals on Tuesday evening.
Cairn (15-4) came out with a purpose in set one, taking a 9-5 lead before jetting out to an eight-point run to take a commanding 17-5 lead and finished off the first set to take a 1-0 match lead. No. 4 seed Rosemont (5-14) made things interesting. After trailing 16-9 at the midway point, the Ravens went on a five-point swing, threatening the Highlander lead to only trail by two (16-14). The Highlanders responded with three-straight points and put the set away to take a 2-0 match lead and dominated the third frame en-route to the shutout.
Cairn was led offensively by junior
Caleb Horning (Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) who slammed down a match-high nine kills and was followed by senior
Dave Cassel (Silverdale, PA / Pennridge) with eight kills. Junior
Cameron Cronk (Quakertown, PA / Quakertown Community) tallied six kills, while classmate
Shea Scott (Harleysville, PA / Souderton) dished out a match-high 14 assists. Junior
Josh Moyer (Quakertown, PA / Quakertown Community) scooped up a match-high 11 digs in the win.
With the win, the Highlanders set up a CSAC Championship rematch one year in the making, as they welcome No. 2 seed Saint Elizabeth University (14-5) to Langhorne with the conference title on the line inside the Mason Activity Center at 7 p.m.
