LANGHORNE, Pa. – The No. 1 seed Cairn University women's tennis team won, 5-0, in a race to five in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship at home against No. 2 seed Cedar Crest College on Saturday, claiming their third-straight CSAC Title and advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third-straight year. The Highlanders did not drop a single matchup in conference play all year and enter the NCAA Tournament with a 20-1 overall record.
"We had losing records against a few of our fall opponents in past seasons, so when our women went 6-0 in our non-traditional campaign, Coach Fanus and I knew we were in store for something special this year." remarked fourth-year Head Coach
Kevin Jackson. "This is a very hard working team that is never satisfied and we have seen each of them overcome very tough situations on the court. Every player has put their confidence in the Lord to contribute to our third CSAC championship in a row and they're incredibly excited to find out where we go next in the NCAA Tournament."
Cairn (20-1) earned all three doubles victories against Cedar Crest (8-6) to take a 3-0 lead at the break, led by junior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot) and sophomore
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 victory. Senior
Sarah Jackson (Milltown, NJ / Middlesex County College) and freshman
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) scored a victory in the No. 2 position by a score of 8-2, while sophomore
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and freshman
Daphne Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) followed that up with an 8-0 blanking of their opponents in the No. 3 slating.

Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) sealed the deal for the Highlanders in the singles matchups, claiming respective 6-0, 6-0 shutouts to incite the celebration in Langhorne at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. The Highlanders showed no signs of dropping a single matchup in this CSAC Title tile, as Kemper held a 6-0, 2-1 lead at No. 1 singles when the match was called, while Miller led 4-2 in her contest in the first set at No. 2 singles.
Ersy Neal boasted a 6-1, 2-1 advantage at the No. 3 slot, while Jackson was just two sets away from claiming the victory in No. 4 singles, leading 6-1, 4-0.
As mentioned, the Highlanders earned the conference's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Cairn will find out its round one opponent on Monday, May 9 when the NCAA releases the bracket for the tournament.
