Women’s Tennis: Highlanders Top Chargers on Senior Day, Take 12-Match Win Streak into CSAC Tournament

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team won, 8-1 at home against non-conference foe Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday, collecting their 12th-stright victory in their final regular season matchup on Senior Day before the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship Tournament this weekend.
 
Before the contest, the Highlanders honored their lone senior, Daphne Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) for her years with the program.
 
Cairn (18-1) collected all three doubles victories against Lancaster Bible (9-7) led by junior Paige Kemper (Lansdale, PA / Garden Spot) and sophomore Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) at No. 1 doubles with a tiebreaker win (8-7, 7-5). Senior Sarah Jackson (Milltown, NJ / Middlesex County College) and freshman Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) downed their opponents in the No. 2 position by a score of 8-2, while sophomore Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and freshman Daphne Neal followed that up with an 8-3 besting of their opponents in the No. 3 slating.
 
Kemper led the charge in the singles bouts with another tiebreaker win, this time coming back after losing the first set to earn a 6-3, 6-3, 10-6 win. Miller earned a hard-fought 6-3, 6-0 triumph at No. 2, while Ersy Neal posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 slot. Jackson earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 4 slot, remaining unbeaten in singles competition this spring, while Campbell-Robertson won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot.
 
The No. 1 seed Highlanders will be back on the court on Friday, April 29 when they host the first round of the CSAC Championship Tournament in the semifinals against Clarks Summit University at 3:30 p.m.
