LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University men's lacrosse team lost, 28-2, in their return to home Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action against reigning conference champion Kean University on Friday evening.
Kean (9-4, 3-1 CSAC) scored the first eight goals of the contest before Cairn (1-9, 1-4 CSAC) got on the score sheet courtesy of sophomore
Jonathan Balsamo (Manorville, NY / Eastport South Manor) scored at the 4:15 mark of the first period. Balsamo notched Cairn's second goal of the game in the second frame, his team-leading 20
th goal of the season.
Balsamo led the Highlanders offensively with two points off his two tallies. Freshmen
Qion Roycroft (Baltimore, MD / Woodlawn) and
Ethan Meiers (Plainsboro, NJ / West Windsor Plainsboro South) led the defensive effort, each tallying three caused turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper
Nico Cione (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) corralled a game-high 14 saves between the pipes in a complete-game effort and scooped up a team-high four ground balls.
The Highlanders will be back in action on Monday, April 25 when they hit the road again, traveling into Jersey to take on conference foe Centenary University (NJ) at 2:30 p.m.
