UNION, N.J. – The Cairn University women's tennis team won, 6-3, on the road at non-conference foe Kean University on Wednesday evening, recording their eighth-straight win and improving to 14-1 on the season.
Cairn (14-1, 3-0 CSAC) posted victories in all three doubles matches over Kean (6-6, 2-1 NJAC), led by junior
Paige Kemper (Lansdale, PA / Garden Spot) and sophomore
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) by a score of 8-5 in No. 1 doubles. Senior
Sarah Jackson (Milltown, NJ / Middlesex County College) and freshman
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) followed with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles, while sophomore
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and freshman
Daphne Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) scored an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 spot.
The Highlanders claimed three singles wins, led by Kemper with a 6-4, 7-5 triumph at No. 1 singles. Jackson went through a battle in her match in the No. 4 slot, scoring a crucial victory (1-6, 6-3, 12-10) that went deep into the third set. Minutes before Jackson finished her bout, Campbell-Robertson sealed the victory for Cairn with a 6-2, 7-6 win at the No. 5 singles slot.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Saturday, April 16 when they return to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play against Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore at 12 p.m.
