ASTON, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team won, 9-0, in shutout fashion on the road at Neumann University on Friday, earning their fourth-straight shutout.
Cairn (10-1) swept the doubles matches against Neumann (1-3) paced by junior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot HS) and sophomore
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) who won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Senior
Sarah Jackson (Milltown, NJ / Middlesex Community College) and freshman
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) paired to earn an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles, while sophomore
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and freshman
Daphne Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) also won their match, 8-0, in shutout fashion at No. 3 doubles.
Kemper led the way in the singles bouts with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in the No. 1 singles slot. Miller followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while
Ersy Neal battled to collect a 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 tiebreaker victory in the No. 3 slating. Jackson remained unbeaten in singles competition with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in the No. 4 spot, while Campbell-Robertson earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5. Sophomore
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) rounded out the day for Cairn with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, keeping her unbeaten record at No. 6 singles alive through eleven matches.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Saturday, April 2 when they travel to Clarks Summit University to take on the Defenders in their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener at 12 p.m.
