Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team won, 9-0, in shutout fashion on the road at Clarks Summit University on Saturday to open Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play, earning their fifth-straight shutout.
Cairn (11-1, 1-0 CSAC) swept eight of the nine matches on the day, including all three doubles matches against Clarks Summit (0-7, 0-1 CSAC) led by freshman
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) and senior
Sarah Jackson (Milltown, NJ / Middlesex Community College) with an 8-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) and
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) also earned a shutout triumph at No. 2 doubles, while the pairing of sophomore
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) and classmate
Gabriella Hurst swept an 8-0 match in the No. 3 spot.
Cairn swept five of the six singles bouts, led by Miller in the No. 1 slating, Jackson, Campbell-Robertson, Horning and freshman
Daphne Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) also won by shutout fashion, while
Ersy Neal claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 2 slating.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Wednesday, April 6 when they welcome conference foe Rosemont College to Langhorne for their first home match of the spring season inside the McCurdy facility at 12 p.m.
