BETHANY, W.V. – The Cairn University men's lacrosse team lost, 17-2, in their first road non-conference contest of the season at Bethany College (WV) on a snowy day in West Virginia on Wednesday.
 
Bethany (3-2) led 4-0 after the first period and led 9-1 at halftime. Highlander sophomore Jonathan Balsamo (Manorville, NY / Eastport South Manor) got Cairn (0-2) on the board with a goal at the 2:25 mark of the first half. Cairn's second goal of the contest came at the 1:55 mark of the third period, when freshman Ramon Juarez (Gaithersburg, MD / Bridgton Academy) found the back of the net. Defensively, the Highlanders were led by Juarez with a team-high nine ground balls, while junior Collin Chase (Zionsville, IN / Zionsville) and freshman Qion Roycroft (Baltimore, MD / Woodlawn) tied a team-high with four caused turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper Nico Cione (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) made a game-high 27 saves in the cage for the Highlanders.
 
The Highlanders will be back in action on Sunday, March 20 when it is on its home field for the first time, welcoming Purchase College to the Stillman Athletic Complex at 1 p.m.
