Women’s Basketball: Highlanders Drop Road Bout to Penn State Brandywine

MEDIA, Pa. – The Cairn University women's basketball team lost, 88-40, on the road at USCAA adversary Penn State Brandywine on Wednesday evening.

Brandywine (4-4) jetted out to a 9-0 lead over Cairn (2-7) through the first two minutes of the bout. The Highlanders responded well, and trailed 20-12 at the end of the first stanza. The Nittany Lions used a 24-10 second quarter to take firm control of the contest, and used that first half advantage to cruise to victory.

Cairn was led by sophomores Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS) and Tamia Warner (Ewing, NJ / Ewing). Hinson posted a team-high 19 points to pair with 10 rebounds, her fifth double-double of the season, while Warner earned her second double-double of the campaign with 16 points and a game-high 13 boards. Warner also swatted away a career-high five blocks.

The Highlanders will now have a month off for Christmas break before they return next semester to resume Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play at home against Rosemont College on Tuesday, January 3 at 3 p.m.
