BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cairn University women's basketball team lost, 93-34 on the road at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday afternoon.
Notre Dame (5-2, 3-0 CSAC) jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Cairn (2-5, 0-2 CSAC) 30-4 in the first frame. The Highlanders bounced back in the second stanza by scoring 13 second-quarter points, but the Gators lead built in the first quarter proved sustainable, as Notre Dame (MD) cruised to its third CSAC victory.
The Gators shot a scorching 51.2% (43-84) from the field in the contest compared to a 30.4% (14-46) mark for Cairn. Notre Dame (MD) dished out 30 assists in the contest and out rebounded the Highlanders, 49-22.
Cairn was led offensively by sophomore
Taylor Hinson (Carney's Point, NJ / Collingswood HS), who registered her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds, both team-highs. Hinson was followed by fifth-year
Markie Watson (Jupiter, FL / Holy Cross Academy), who chipped in a season-high seven points off the bench.
The Highlanders will be back on the floor on Tuesday, December 6 when they return home to take on CSAC adversary Bryn Athyn College inside the Mason Activity Center at 7 p.m.
