ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cairn University women's volleyball team won, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-9) on the road at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Rosemont College in their final away contest of the regular season on Thursday evening.
"Tonight's game was such an important one, not just for playoff implications, but for our team to continue to play efficient, aggressive, complete games of volleyball as we get ready for the postseason." remarked Head Coach

Cairn (16-5, 6-2 CSAC) fell behind Rosemont (7-13, 4-4 CSAC) early in set one and trailed 7-4, before the Highlanders ignited a 14-5 run to take an 18-12 advantage at the midway point. Cairn closed the set on a 7-3 run to take set one. Set two was contested much more evenly, as Cairn only led 22-20 near the conclusion of the frame. However, a kill and a service ace from fifth-year
Allison Barnes (Macungie, PA / Salem Christian) helped Cairn put away the Ravens in set two, and the Highlanders marched to a commanding 25-9 rout in set three to complete the sweep.
Cairn was led offensively by Barnes who posted a match-high 13 kills with no errors at a .500 hitting percentage. With those 13 kills, Barnes officially surpassed former teammate
Lyntia Gwess '20 for fourth-place on Cairn's career all-time kills list with 694 career kills. Sophomore
Hendryl Peabody (Bensalem, PA / Faith Baptist Christian Academy) followed Barnes with six kills at a .500 clip, while classmate
Caroline Conrad (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) added five kills and 11 digs. Junior
Olivia Zepp (Westminster, MD / Francis Scott Key) distributed a match-high 26 assists, while senior
Lizzy Fay (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy) and freshman
Payton Cline (Falling Waters, WV / Heritage Academy) each finished in double figures in digs with 14 (team-high) and 10, respectively.
The Highlanders will be back on the floor on Saturday, October 29 in their final regular season contest at home against conference foe Bryn Athyn College at 2 p.m. Senior Day festivities will take place inside the Mason Activity Center prior to the match.
