Women’s Volleyball: Conrad’s Triple-Double Leads Cairn to 3-0 Sweep at Saint Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The Cairn University women's volleyball team won, 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-6) on the road at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) adversary Saint Elizabeth University on Saturday afternoon.

"Despite the challenges of playing on the road and without one of our key offensive players, we played an excellent, complete game of volleyball today." remarked Head Coach Whitney Seidel. "I am very proud of the way that my leaders stepped up and how everyone seamlessly executed in the roles that they were asked to fill today."

Cairn (15-5, 5-2 CSAC) battled through a tightly contested first set with Saint Elizabeth (5-16, 2-5 CSAC), leading 19-15 at the midway point. However, the Highlanders rallied with a five-point swing on a serving run by senior Kali Burres-Cheeley (Wanaque, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) and claimed a 25-19 win in set one. From that point, the Highlanders used efficient offense and consistent serving throughout the match, easily handling the Eagles in the second and third frames en-route to a straight-set victory.

Cairn was led offensively by sophomore Caroline Conrad (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School), who posted her first career triple-double (Cairn's second triple double of the season) with 12 kills, 11 digs and a career-high 10 service aces (all team-highs). Conrad's 10 aces are the second-most in a three-set match in program history. Burres-Cheeley followed with eight kills and eight digs, while junior Olivia Zepp (Westminster, MD / Francis Scott Key) dished out a match-high 21 assists and added seven digs in the victory. Cairn compiled a .315 hitting percentage (34 kills, five errors) as a team in the contest, their third-most efficient offensive performance of the season.

The Highlanders will be back on the hardwood on Thursday, October 27 when they travel to conference foe Rosemont for their final regular season road matchup of the season with the Ravens at 7 p.m.
