LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team remained unbeaten on the season with an 8-1 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University in a non-conference contest at home on Saturday.
Cairn (3-0) won two doubles matches against Gwynedd (0-1) led by junior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot HS) and sophomore
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) who won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. The Highlanders also won by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
Cairn swept the singles matches led by Kemper with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles. Three other Highlanders won their singles matches, including senior
Lauren Griffith (Newtown, PA / Calvary Christian Academy) with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles and freshman
Ersy Neal and
Daphne Neal, who won at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-0) and No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-0), respectively. Cairn won by forfeit in the No. 5 and No. 6 slot.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Monday, September 27 when it travels to Marywood University for a non-conference contest at 3 p.m.
