LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team opened up the 2021-22 season with a victory over Arcadia University by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday evening.
Cairn (1-0) did most of its damage in the singles matches, claiming five of the six matches led by junior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot HS) with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 singles. The Highlanders followed that up with wins by senior
Lauren Griffith (Newtown, PA / Calvary Christian Academy) at No. 3 singles (8-2) and freshman
Ersy Neal at No. 4 singles (8-3). Sophomore
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and sophomore
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico HS) rounded out the singles effort with wins at No. 5 singles (8-2) and No. 6 singles (8-4), respectively.
The Highlanders concluded the victory by vaulting over the Knights (0-1) in No. 3 doubles, as Campbell-Robertson and freshman
Daphne Neal won their match by a score of 8-3.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on Friday, September 17 when they take on Kean University in their first road contest of the season at 6 p.m.
