LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University men's basketball team won, 76-67, against non-conference opponent Moravian University at home on Wednesday evening.
After Moravian (4-5) scored the first basket of the contest, Cairn (9-4) responded with an 11-0 run to take an 11-2 lead right out of the gates. The Greyhounds kept things interesting, as they answered with an 18-9 run to knot the game up at 20 a-piece with 9:05 left in the half. The Highlanders then ignited another 11-0 outburst, fueled by six points from junior
Dashaun Cain (Wilmington, DE / Red Lion Christian Academy) to take a 31-20 lead with 5:08 left in the frame. Cairn led Moravian 36-29 at intermission.
In the second half, the Greyhounds regained the lead for the first time since they led 2-0 after starting the half on a 16-8 run to take a 45-44 lead with 14:09 remaining. However, that would be the last lead the Greyhounds would muster, as Cairn re-took the lead with a bucket from junior
Noah Mitchell (Leesburg, VA / Toccoa Falls College) on the next possession. The Highlanders did not lose the lead for the remainder of the contest, increasing their advantage to 13 (73-60) at its highest point with 32 seconds remaining.
Cairn shot 40% (26-65) from the field compared to 35.7% (25-70) for the Greyhounds. The Highlanders dominated the glass, out-rebounding Moravian 52-37, including 13 offensive rebounds. The difference in the contest came from the charity stripe, with Cairn converting on 70.8% (17-24) of its free throws, while Moravian only attempted 11 free throws in the contest.

Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing), who put forth his first 20-20 performance of the season with game-highs of 20 points and 21 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season. Clark's 21 boards pushed him over the 500+ rebound mark for his career (520 total), only the eighth player in program history to surpass 500 career rebounds. Clark was followed by classmate
Jesse Rivera (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) and junior
Wes Murray (Reading, PA / Exeter). Rivera scored 13 points and tied for a team-high with junior
Josh Forker (Telford, PA / Faith Christian) with three assists, while Murray posted his second double-double in three games with 12 points and 11 boards. Cain and Mitchell each contributed 10 points each on four-of-eight shooting.
The Highlanders will be back on the floor on Monday, January 3 when they welcome Delaware Valley University to town for a non-conference matchup inside the Mason Activity Center at 3 p.m.
