Men’s Soccer: Highlanders Fall to No. 1 Seed Ravens in CSAC Title Game

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The No. 3 seed Cairn University men's soccer team lost by a score of 3-0 on the road at No. 1 seed Rosemont College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship game on Saturday evening.

Cairn (11-4-2) and Rosemont (12-4-1) engaged in a defensive battle early, with neither team scoring through the midway point of the first half. However, in the 28th minute, Rosemont forward Clayton Crosse maneuvered his way through the Highlander back line and fired a rocket top shelf past Cairn senior goalkeeper Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing) to give Rosemont a 1-0 lead. The Ravens took that 1-0 lead into halftime intermission. Rosemont controlled the pace in the first half, firing off six shots compared to zero for the Highlanders.

In the second half, Crosse went to work again for the Ravens, this time collecting a deflected ball inside the box and firing a shot to the low side to make it 2-0 Ravens just over two minutes into the second half. In the 72nd minute, the Ravens extended their lead when CSAC-leading goal scorers Kaiden Fields scored to make it 3-0. Cairn senior Josh Goodyear (Camp Hill, PA / Camp Hill) tried to get Cairn back into it with a header that trickled along the goal line in the 79th minute, but Rosemont was able to fend off a late Highlander push to seal the victory.

Rosemont out shot Cairn in the contest (9-4) and bested them in shots on goal (6-1). The Highlanders topped the Ravens in corner kick opportunities (3-2). Clark corralled three saves in a complete game effort.

Cairn finishes the season with an 11-4-2 record and made its first CSAC Championship appearance in program history.
