BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cairn University men's and women's cross country teams traveled Baltimore to compete in the Goucher Coach Caslin Classic on Saturday. The women's team finished fourth out of the five teams competing, while the men ended up sixth of of seven teams.
For the women, the Highlanders were paced by freshman
Emily Petty (Fort Mill, SC / Northstar Academy) who earned the first medal of her career with a personal-best 6K time of 28:13 to finish 10
th in the field of 46 runners. Senior
Aubrey Eshelman (Lancaster, PA / Lancaster County Christian) finished next for Cairn with a 19
th place time of 30:23. Senior
Isabella Palladino (Langhorne, PA / Homeschooled) finished third for Cairn, crossing the finish line in 33:39 to finish in 29
th position. Freshman
Carina Russell and junior
Madeline Chase (Apalachin, NY / Ross Corners Christian Academy) rounded out the top-five finishers for Cairn, finishing in 32
nd (34:03) and 35
th place (34:42), respectively.
For the men, Cairn was paced by freshman
Nicholas Palladino (Langhorne, PA / Homeschooled), who crossed first for the Highlanders with a personal-best 8K time of 32:08 to finish 25
th in the 68-runner field. Crossing second for the Highlanders was senior
Brian Jennings (Germantown, PA / Springside Chestnut Hill Academy), who finished in 42
nd place with a time of 35:27. Senior
Joseph Keeports (York, PA / Central York) earned a time of 35:40 to finish in 45
th positon, while junior
Tim Colgan finished right behind with a time of 36:33 for 47
th place. Senior
Chris Potts (Northeast Philadelphia, PA / Calvary Christian Academy) rounded out the top-five finishers for the men with a time of 38:03, slotting in 54
th place.
The women's and men's cross country teams will now prepare for the most important meet of the season on Saturday, October 30 when they compete in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships at McDade Park in Scranton, Pa.
