WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Cairn University women's tennis team finished the non-traditional fall schedule undefeated with a 6-3 victory over King's College on Tuesday.
Cairn (6-0) won two of the three doubles matches over King's (0-1) paced by junior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, PA / Garden Spot HS) and sophomore
Brianna Miller (Delta, PA / Kennard-Dale) who won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, as the duo finished 5-1 on the fall season. The Highlanders also bested the Monarchs at No. 2 doubles, with the tandem of sophomore
Rachel Campbell-Robertson (Richmond, VA / Veritas School) and freshman
Ersy Neal (Wayne, PA / Delco Christian) earning an 8-4 win.
Cairn also grabbed four of the six singles bouts, led by Kemper who improved her fall record to 5-1 with a 6-3, 4-6 (10-5) tiebreaker win at No. 1 singles, while Miller claimed the win at No. 2 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Campbell-Robertson and sophomore
Abby Horning (St. Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) each finished off unbeaten, 5-0 fall seasons, as Campbell-Robertson won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles while Horning earned a 6-3, 6-3 triumph in the No. 5 slot.
The Highlanders will be back on the court on in the spring as they look to defend their back-to-back Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships.
