Highlanders Punch Ticket to CSAC Championship for 2nd Straight Season

LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders stellar season marched forward Wednesday night. Cairn outlasted a furious Rosemont comeback to advance to the CSAC Championship for the 2nd straight season.

The Highlanders started slowly, trailing 8-2 early until a Julian Collazo layup broke the seal and opened up the Cairn offense. Cairn mounted a 14-0 run over the next 5 minutes to take control and a 21-10 lead. With a chance to break the game open, Rosemont hung on, finishing a couple layups to keep the Highlanders and their rowdy home crowd at bay. After 7 straight points from Brennan Addley, Cairn led by 17 with 2 minutes on the clock, but Marlon Sharpton mounted an 8-0 run of his own to keep Rosemont within 10 at the break.

The Ravens kept up their momentum from the end of the first half, bringing the game all the way back within 2 points over the first 6 minutes. As both Brennan Addley and Malachi Hall sat with fouls, the Highlanders needed a spark. Fortunately, Dashaun Cain stepped up in a major way, playing big minutes and getting to the rim a number of times to keep the Highlanders offense alive. Rosemont seemed to take control of the game, leading by 5 down the stretch, with Sharpton catching fire. Cairn clawed their way back in with swarming defense- Malachi Hall and Julian Collazo each picked up steals and canned free throws, bringing the Highlanders all the way back with just 2 minutes to go. A three from Addley and layup from Cain put the Highlanders ahead to stay, with Collazo, Jeremiah Harris, Addley, and Cain fittingly knocking down free throws to ice the game.

The Highlanders will now turn their sights to the CSAC Championship Saturday afternoon at Centenary University. Highlander fans it is on you now to keep up the awesome support, travel to Centenary, and urge our Highlanders to victory in the Championship! See you there!
