LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders welcomed NJCU to Langhorne for a non-conference matchup before a big series against Wilson College this weekend.
The Highlanders fell into a four run hole early on, but tied the contest after a pair of 2 RBI doubles from
Emilio Alvarez and Nano Fernandez in the 3rd and 4th innings. The Gothic Knights mounted a couple big runs and led 11-6 heading into the 8th inning.
Andrew Philips started a run for the Highlanders with a single, Josh Melchior walked, and
Daniel Morales walked. The Highlanders showed great patience as Melchior scored on an error by the catcher, Nate Wilson walked, and Mike Sorowice walked. Brian Amantia and Fernandez were each hit by pitches forcing runs home and bringing the score to 11-10. In his second at bat of the inning, Philips flew out to right field and the Highlanders two out rally came to an end. Despite the awesome 5 run comeback, the Highlanders couldn't get over the hump and dropped the contest to NJCU 11-10.
Josh Melchior notched 3 hits, Nate Wilson,
Alejandro Fernandez, and Philips each finished with two, and
Daniel Morales pitched two scoreless innings to close out the contest.
Cairn will take on Wilson College at 3:30 PM Friday afternoon in a huge CSAC series.
