LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders hosted last year's CSAC winners Rosemont College last night. The Highlanders fought hard but fell after a tough stretch in the fourth quarter.
Â
Dakota Hitchner came flying out of the gates for the Highlanders, rushing to the rim and either finishing an acrobatic layup or getting fouled and converting the free throws. The Highlanders trailed by two at the end of the first quarter, a margin that would remain consistent in the next quarter after
Charlotte Allen hit a turnaround jumper as time expired.
Â
Cairn came out of the second half in excellent fashion as
Melissa Good and
Jenna Krage both hit jumpers from long range to give the Highlanders the lead. Rosemont battled back to take a seven point lead, but jumpers from
Kyrstin Jarvis,
Markie Watson, and Krage, as well as free throws from Hitchner and Tori Stum, brought the Highlanders right back. After another free throw from Hitchner, the Highlanders headed to the fourth quarter with the game set at 54-apiece. Unfortunately, the Highlanders ran out of gas down the stretch and Rosemont pulled ahead. The Highlanders started the fouling game, but the Ravens hit their free throws and Cairn narrowly fell in their second CSAC matchup of the season.
Â
Hitchner finished with 25 points and 7 rebounds,
Jenna Krage hit three threes on her way to 11 points, and Tori Stum notched 7 points and 8 rebounds.
Â
The Highlanders will travel to take on Cedar Crest College at 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon in another CSAC contest.
