LANGHORNE, PA- In their third match of the young season, the Highlanders showed great improvements Friday afternoon against the visiting Defenders of Clarks Summit University.
Â
The Highlanders won one of three doubles matches when the pair of Ellie Santos and Mariah Wilson handily defeated Clarks Summit's #3 doubles team. Santos and Wilson leveraged their speed to stay in points and force the Defenders into mistakes. The Highlanders also showed great improvements in singles play as Wilson and Santos used the momentum of their doubles win to defeat their opponents. Wilson won fairly easily, 6-2, 6-3, but, Santos mired in a dogfight, showed great grit to win her match 7-6, 6-6, and a tiebreaker 10-7 for the Highlanders third point of the day. The Highlanders also won both exhibition matches as Joy Englehart and Katelyn Loveless each won with ease.
Â
The Highlanders young team is improving rapidly and will seek their first win against Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM.
