Highlanders Wrap Up Season Against Kean

UNION, NJ- The Highlanders traveled to New Jersey to take on the #4 nationally ranked Cougars of Kean University.

The Highlanders struggled a bit in their last match of the season, dropping the first set 13-25. Cairn bounced back in the second, as despite an early three point run from Kean, the Highlanders battled back after a Kean attack error and a service ace from Joffrey Rosa, setting the score at 8-10. Micah Godshall notched a kill to bring the Highlanders closer at 19-24, but the Cougars finished the second set, winning 25-19. Two Ryan Ludvik service aces and two Kean attack errors staked Cairn to a 4-0 lead in the third set, with the Highlanders holding onto their narrow lead thanks to kills from Godshall, Rosa, and Juston Wolgemuth. Unfortunately, Kean came storming back with a seven point run to take the lead, and eventually the set.

This match brings an end to the excellent careers of Joffrey Rosa and standout Micah Godshall. Rosa has played a pivotal part for the Highlanders, using his excellent leaping ability to provide stellar offense and blocking over his career. Godshall puts the cap on his unbelievable senior season and fantastic career. For the year, Godshall finished with 457 points, 390 kills, 50 service aces, and 174 digs. The 6"4' opposite hitter finished incredibly well on the NCAA DIII leaderboards ranking 1st in kills, 3rd in kills per set, 1st in points, 3rd in points per set, and 5th in service aces.

The Highlanders finished the with their most wins since 2015, tallying 11 on the year, and managing an impressive 9-6 record in out-of-conference play.
