LANGHORNE, PA- In two tightly contested matchups the Highlanders bats went cold as they dropped both games to Cabrini, 6-1 and 4-2.
Â
In game one, Cairn struggled to find the critical hit to knock a couple runs home. The Highlanders set the table a couple times, with back-to-back hits in the first, three hits in a row in the second, and three in a row in the fifth, but despite their numerous chances the Highlanders managed to plate only one run. In his first game back from injury,
Albert Taylor threw a gem in relief, pitching 3.1 innings, giving up only 3 hits and striking out 4.
Jacob Allen,
Daniel Morales, and
Jonathan Jaynes each notched two hits, and Dan Bierc smoked a pinch hit double to the right center gap.
Â
Game two saw
Eric Stinglen take the ball for Cairn. The imposing junior breezed through three innings, striking out four, before running into some trouble in the fourth. Cabrini loaded the bases, but Stinglen buckled down to record two outs before giving up a bases clearing double that handed Cabrini a 4-0 lead. The Highlanders struggled to decipher Cabrini's starter over the first half of the game until
Daniel Morales took a 3-2 fastball deep over the right field fence. The two run bomb was Morales' third of the season and brought Cairn within two runs. Unfortunately, the Highlanders were unable to mount another comeback and dropped game two, 4-2.

Deep into the CSAC schedule, Cairn will travel to Gwynedd Mercy Tuesday afternoon before hosting the Griffins at 3:30 PM Thursday afternoon.
