LANGHORNE, PA- In an out-of-conference matchup against longtime rival Lancaster Bible College, the Highlanders split the doubleheader, winning game one 3-2, but dropping the second 2-10.

In game one the Highlanders rode with ace Krista Earl on the mound. Earl continued her dominance, pitching another complete game and adding eight more strikeouts to her impressive yearlong tally. The Highlanders trailed 0-2 heading to the fourth inning, before Shay Walker started a Cairn rally with a leadoff double. Haley Tinney followed with a single, before swiping second base, and Meagan Maratita singled Walker home for the Highlanders first run of the day.
Katelynn Reiss notched the Highlanders fourth straight hit to plate Tinney and tie the game. Maratita stole third base, and Earl helped her own cause with a groundout that would knock Maratita in to give the Highlanders the lead. Staked to a 3-2 lead, Earl shut down LBC over the next three innings to give Cairn their 12
th win of the year.

After such a thrilling win in game one the Highlanders struggled a bit in the second game as LBC capitalized on a few Cairn errors to take a big lead they would not relinquish. The Highlanders game was highlighted by an excellent showing from McKenna Schindele who went 3-4 and scored 2 runs. Haley Tinney also went 1-3, finishing with 2 RBIs to lead Cairn.

The Highlanders will play again this Friday at Cabrini University in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM.
