LANGHORNE, PA - The Cairn Highlanders took to the floor taking on Cedar Crest College inside the Mason Activity Center. The Highlanders got the better of the Falcons in this matchup, taking down the Falcons by a final score of 59-54.
Cairn got the pace going early in this contest when
Kendra Stum buried two free throw line jumpers right out of the gate to set the tempo early. However, the Highlanders would use a strong 2nd quarter to push their lead to double digits going into the halftime break.
With their backs against the wall, trailing 39-28, the Falcons rallied to erase the deficit, pulling ahead of the Highlanders late in the 4th quarter courtesy of a Sylera Weller three pointer that gave them a brief 52-50 lead with 2:47 left on the game clock. That was the last time the Highlanders would trail in the game, as they used a quick 5-0 run capped off by a Peyton Emerick three pointer from the top of the key to take the lead. The Highlanders knocked down their free throws down the stretch and finished off the Falcons by a score of 59-54.
Cairn University once again received a stellar performance by their leading scorer
Kendra Stum, as she tallied 18 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals in the victory. Peyton Emerick notched another double-double, dropping 13 points, including a 3-6 mark from beyond the arc, to match her 10 rebounds. The Highlanders will be back in action Monday night when they take on the University of Valley Forge at the Mason Activity Center at 6:00 PM.
