LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders notched their first victory of the new season, defeating Rutgers-Camden 72-68 after a huge second half in which they outscored the Scarlet Raptors 44-31.
Cairn struggled over the first 20 minutes of play, as Rutgers-Camden's Trai Greer continually slashed to the rim to post 16 first half points. The Highlanders comeback was fueled first and foremost by voraciously attacking the boards. Cairn outrebounded the Scarlet Raptors 26-11 in the second half, allowing only one offensive rebound and shutting down Rutgers-Camden by erasing the opportunity for second-chance points. The Highlanders also secured the ball in the open court, coughing up only two turnovers in the second half as well.
The Highlanders had an excellent balanced attack as
Malachi Hall led with 14 points,
Jordan Koczman tallied 13,
Julian Collazo (12 pts, 11 rebounds, 6 assists) and
Jeremiah Harris (12 pts, 10 rebounds) picked up double-doubles,
Justin Dean notched 12 in his second start of the season, and
