LANGHORNE, PA- On a brisk Saturday afternoon at the Mason Activity Center, the Highlanders were back in action once again as they took to the court against the Wilson College Phoenix, putting their stellar 3-1 conference record on the line in the process.
After a halting start to the afternoon's affairs, the Highlanders and the Phoenix exchanged kills early on. With Wilson College leading 21-14 late in the first set, the Highlanders found an answer in the form of OHs
Lyntia Gwess and
Brie Norton, both picking up kills to cut into the Phoenix lead. Despite the late flurry by the Highlanders, the Phoenix came away with the first set by a score of 25-19. The second set continued with a strong push from the Highlanders, until the the Phoenix rose from the ashes en route to another set victory, 25-18. The Highlanders put forth their best efforts in the final set, utilizing a plethora of kills from
Haley Sheehan and
Lyntia Gwess to attempt to mount a comeback, but the Phoenix proved too much today, as they took the final set, 25-20, taking the match by a score of 3-0.
The Highlanders drop to 6-14 with the loss, but still hold a good standing in the CSAC with a 3-2 conference record. They will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on Cheyney University at home. Game time scheduled for 7:30 PM.
