LANGHORNE, PA- On a brisk evening at the Mason Activity Center, the Highlanders women's volleyball team was back in action, defeating the Wolves of Cheyney University 3-0 in a non-conference affair.
Coming off a loss this past Saturday against CSAC foe Wilson College, the Highlanders came out with a purpose, getting off to a great start and taking a 16-10 lead in the first set. Despite a brief Cheyney comeback, the Highlanders utilized a kill from
Lyntia Gwess, coupled with a kill from
Brie Norton to take a commanding lead and win the first set when middle hitter
Brooke Seidel's final swing found the ground. With momentum on their side, the Highlanders continued to apply pressure on the Cheyney back line, utilizing an efficient offensive attack to take the second set 25-9. The Highlanders continued their dominance up front in the third set, rolling to the third set victory by a final score of 25-20, and winning the match, 3-0!
With the win, the Highlanders improve to 7-14 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday in a conference affair against Keystone College for their Dig Pink game. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness, and the Highlanders will be donating to the Side-Out foundation after the game. Game time scheduled for 7:30 PM.
