LANGHORNE, PA- With more parity than ever in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, the Highlanders sought a crucial victory against the Mighty Macs in tonight's contest. However, despite their best efforts and another phenomenal effort from Malachi Hall the Highlanders were unable to complete the victory, falling by a final score of 82-89.
Â
Riding high after a commanding victory against Centenary University on Saturday, the Highlanders started out strong once again against the visiting Mighty Macs. Donovan McCrae and Antoine Nunnally started out the scoring for Cairn, as the freshmen each confidently made a three and two to give the Highlanders a 10-4 lead to start. Immaculata fought back with a 15-0 run over the next 5 minutes to take the lead. In desperate need of a spark, Malachi Hall set the Cairn gym ablaze with a steal and thunderous dunk to end the Mighty Macs run and resuscitate the Highlanders floundering offense. Basketball is a game of runs and the Highlanders flew around the court, mounting their own run to take a 40-35 lead into the break.
Â
The Highlanders held their lead for the first 10 minutes of the second half as Malachi Hall took control, individually breaking down the Immaculata press and slashing to the rim for acrobatic finishes. Much like the first half, the Mighty Macs blitzed their way to a crushing 15-2 run in the second half as well, taking a commanding 73-60 lead.
Josh Decker found his mark from the outside, and Malachi Hall did his very best to bring the Highlanders back (highlighted by yet another powerful dunk), however, the Highlanders could not come all the way back and dropped the contest 82-89.
Â
Malachi Hall had an incredible 34 points and 8 rebounds, Antoine Nunnally finished with one of his best performances at 11 points and 14 rebounds, and
Josh Decker tallied 15 points of his own on 3 three pointers.

The Highlanders continue their week against Neumann University this Thursday at 8:00 PM.
