BRYN ATHYN, PA- The Highlanders traveled down the road to face the Lions of Bryn Athyn college, losing the match after 3 incredibly close sets.
The Highlanders, who are missing the presence of talented freshman
Lyntia Gwess, are struggling to find a replacement for Gwess' production. Bri Norton, receiving a much larger share of the offensive touches the last three matches, has responded excellently and chipped in 7 kills, 8 digs, and 3 service aces to no errors on the night. Additionally,
Haley Sheehan and
Kylie McCann led the Highlanders with 12 digs apiece for the night.Â
You cannot question the heart of these young Highlanders as they battle hard each and every point. In tonight's match, the Highlanders defense flew around the court, returning seemingly every smash sent their way and forcing the Lions into numerous errors.Â
With losses in the first two sets (22-25, 20-25) the Highlanders took the lead deep into the third set after a 5 point run, thanks to a
Haley Sheehan kill and 2 aces from Norton. However, the Lions mounted a run of their own scoring 7 of the next 8 points to take the lead and eventually close out the match.Â
The Highlanders will be back in action Thursday night when they host Wesley College in the Mason Activity Center at 7 PM. Come out to support the women's volleyball team!
