Langhorne, PA -
Daniel Morales and
Aaron Takacs each hammered homers in Game One against the Centenary Cyclones to help Cairn earn a 4-1 victory over the Cyclones. In Game Two, the Highlanders took an early 3-0 lead, but where held scoreless over the final six frames.
Sam Dralle tossed six shutout innings and the Highlanders held on for a 3-2 victory after the Cyclones scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.

Game One – Cairn defeats Centenary 4-1
Prior to the games,
John Burlaga was honored as the team's only senior. He then walked to the mound and earned his second victory of the season in Game One, going 4.2 innings allowing just one earned run on four hits. He struck out four and walked none to improve to 2-0.
Emilio Alvarez pitched a perfect ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.
Â
Offensively it looked like it was going to be a high scoring contest for the Highlanders after the first two batters reached on singles to start the game. A fly out and a double-play killed the threat without a run. The Highlanders got on the board in the second when
Daniel Morales deposited the first pitch he saw over the right field fence for his first home run of the season.
Â
Just one inning later,
Aaron Takacs crushed a homer to right center with
Jacob Allen on board to put the Highlanders up 3-0. It was Takacs' second big fly of the season and his first since late March.
Â
The Cyclones got a run back just a few minutes later when Jon Fleck led off the top of the fourth with a solo home run to right center. The homer made it 3-1 and the Highlanders added an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning with a
Nathan Wilson two-out single to center that scored
Andrew Philips from third.
Â
With the Highlanders leading 4-1, the Cyclones put a two-out rally together in the fifth with a single, double, and walk to load the bases.
Kameron Bradshaw came on in relief and got the last out of the inning to strand the bases loaded.
Â
Bradshaw then worked a perfect sixth before handing the ball to
Emilio Alvarez. Alvarez induced two ground outs before getting the final out of the frame on a strikeout to seal the 4-1 victory.
Â
Game Two – Cairn defeats Centenary 3-2
Game Two belong to
Sam Dralle. The sophomore righty allowed four hits in six scoreless innings of work. He walked five but struck out four to improve his record to 4-4 on the season.
Â
Dralle got some run support early with three runs in the bottom of the first. Josh Field delivered a two-run single down the left field line that plated
Aaron Takacs and
Jacob Allen. Three batters later,
Keith LeNoue reached on a fielder's choice to push across a third run and give Cairn a 3-0 lead heading to the second.
Â
That was all the offense the Highlanders were able to generate as Casey Brown settled down to retire 17 of the final 18 batters he faced. The only hit in the final six inning for Cairn came from Josh Field in the third with one away.
Â
While Brown was cruising for Centenary, Dralle was matching him donut for donut on the scoreboard. Dralle's six bagels came with a little more stress. He stranded two Cyclones on the pads in the second, fourth, and fifth, but did not allow a run in his six innings of work.
Â
Dralle gave way to
Emilio Alvarez in the seventh, who was looking for his second save of the day. While perfect in his first outing on Saturday, the freshman has some command issues in Game Two. Alvarez retired one batter but allowed five Cyclones to reach in the frame by way of a hit, two walks, and two hit-by-pitches. With one out, two runs already in, and the sacks full the Highlanders turned to
Matt Trotman. Â
Â
Trotman quickly got ahead of his first batter and got a comebacker to the mound. Trotman fielded the chopper and went home for the force. Catcher Josh Field tried for the double-play, but the throw to first was late and the inning continued. The next batter laced a line drive to right field, but
Andrew Philips was perfectly positioned to squeeze the drive and end the game to complete the Saturday sweep.
Â
By getting the final two outs,
Matt Trotman earns the first save of his career.
Â
The Highlanders will next take the field on Friday when they host the Cabrini Cavaliers at 3:00 p.m.
