Langhorne, PA - The Cairn softball team took care of the Trinity (DC) Tigers in both ends of a doubleheader on Monday afternoon by scores of 12-1 and 6-3. With the pair of victories today, the Highlanders completed their non-conference schedule with a perfect 12-0 record.

Game One – Cairn defeats Trinity – 12-1
The Highlanders opened the first game of the doubleheader with a blazing start, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first.
Katelynn Reiss singled to right field to dent the scoreboard for the first time before
Angela Paskitti scampered home on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.

Charlotte Camp proceeded to drive home two runs with a bases loaded single, doubling the Highlanders lead to 4-0. Batting for the second time in the inning,
Jenna Alshay singled home a run and Camp came around on an error just moments later. When the dust settled, Cairn led 6-0 through one.

The Highlanders added another run in the second on a
Charlotte Camp single.

In the third, five straight batters drove home runs for the Highlanders, increasing their lead to 12-0.

That 12-run cushion was more than enough for
Meagan Maratita on the mound. The freshman pitcher tossed a complete game allowing just two hits and one unearned run. Trinity's Saahirah Brown connected for both hits for Trinity. Brown ripped a triple in the fourth and came home on a throwing error for the only run the Tigers would scratch across.

Maratita finished with a career-high, seven strikeouts in the game.

Charlotte Camp drove home a career-high four runs in the game, matching her career total prio to the game. It marked her first multi-RBI game of her career.

Game Two – Cairn defeats Trinity 6-3
The Tigers and Highlanders went toe-to-toe in the second game, with the Highlanders using a four-run fifth to take a comeback victory by a 6-3 final.

Cairn was the first to score in the game, with a two-run second.
Keely Congleton reached on an error to center field which allowed Camp to race around from first.
Katelyn Loveless then followed with a single through the left side to score Congleton from third.

The 2-0 lead would hold into the fourth inning, when the Tigers took advantage of a leadoff walk to plate a run. The leadoff hitter walked and moved to second on a groundout before a single brought her home to cut the lead to one.

After a quiet bottom half of the fourth, the Tigers knocked a pair of extra-base hits to score a pair of runs to take their first lead of the game.

The Highlanders quickly countered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.
Haley Tinney reached on an error and stole third before
Meagan Maratita ripped a triple over the left fielder's head to tie the game.
Angela Paskitti singled home Maratita to give Cairn the lead back at 4-3.

Jessica Rolo and
Keely Congleton singles each brought home runs and put Cairn ahead 6-3 heading to the sixth.

Now holding a three-run lead, the Highlanders turned to their Game One starter, Maratita to close out the game. Maratita delivered two perfect frames, while striking out three of the six batters she faced to earn her first career-save.
Haley Tinney earned the victory for the Highlanders, tossing five innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks. Tinney tied a career-high with eight strikeouts while improving to 4-6 on the season.

Cairn has now completed their home schedule; they will next take the field on Friday when they travel to Keystone College on Friday for a CSAC doubleheader. Game time scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
