Langhorne, PA - The visiting Immaculata Mighty Macs swept the Cairn softball team on Saturday afternoon by scores of 13-1 and 16-0. The Mighty Macs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first and cruised to a 13-1 victory over the Cain softball team in Game One of the doubleheader. In Game Two, Immaculata used 11 first-inning runs to secure a 16-0 victory in five innings.

Game One – Immaculata defeats Cairn 13-1
In Game One,
Meagan Maratita collected the only RBI for the Highlanders with an infield single to third base in the bottom of the third. The RBI single made it an 11-1 game after the Mighty Macs jumped out to an 11-0 lead over the first three frames.

Immaculata scored four runs in both the first and second innings, before connecting for three in the third prior to Cairn's run in the third.

Keely Congleton started off the third by reaching on an error on the shortstop and advanced to second on an overthrow.
Sarah Wright pinch ran for Congleton and advanced to third on a groundout by Kaitlin Loveless. After
Haley Tinney was hit by a pitch, Maratita smoked a groundball to third that was too hot to hand allowing Wright to score from third.

Immaculata got out of the third without further damage and scored two runs in the top of the fourth. Cairn got a runner on in both the fourth and fifth, but could not get them around and fell by a 13-1 final.

Maratita threw a complete game for the Highlanders but took her first loss of the season to move to 4-1.

The Highlanders threatened for a run in the second with
Katelynn Reiss leading off the inning with a single and
Angela Paskitti doubling to left-center, but the Mighty Macs cut down Reiss trying to score from first on the play.

Game Two – Immaculata defeats Cairn 16-0
As mentioned, Game Two belonged to the Mighty Macs. Immaculata scored 11 runs before the Highlanders even stepped to the plate. The Mighty Macs added five more runs across the next two innings to win by a 16-0 final.

The Highlanders could only muster four hits in the second game with
Meagan Maratita,
Jessica Rolo,
Katelynn Reiss, and
Angela Paskitti each collecting singles in the contest.

Cairn's best chance in Game Two came in the bottom of the fourth when Maratita, Rolo, and Reiss each collected hits in a row, but Immaculata escaped the jam with back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.

Haley Tinney tossed two innings and took the loss for the Highlanders.
Angela Paskitti threw three innings of scoreless relief allowing two hits and three walks in her first career appearance.

The Highlanders will be back in action on Tuesday when York College (NY) visits Langhorne for a doubleheader. Game One on Tuesday is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday's games are make-up games from Mar. 10 that were pushed back due to weather.
