Owings Mills, MD - On Friday night, the Cairn men's volleyball team dropped a CVC match against Stevenson 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-17).
Ben Chapman (five kills) and
Juston Wolgemuth (five kills) led the way for Cairn offensively.
For Stevenson, Michael Fehrs led the Mustangs with seven kills in the match.
In the first set, the Mustangs started off hot and took early leads of 7-0 and 13-3. Cairn put together two separate stretches of three-straight points to close the gap late but it was too little too late as Stevenson took the first set 25-13. In the set,
Andy Willits collected three kills and
Juston Wolgemuth earned a pair of kills to lead Cairn.
The second set was not kind to the Highlanders. Stevenson controlled the set and took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-7 victory in the second set.
Ben Chapman led the Highlanders with two kills in the game.
Stevenson took a comfortable lead early in the third set with an 11-2 advantage. Later in the set the Mustangs held a 23-11 lead, but the Highlanders would not go down easy. Cairn won six of the next seven points before a service error gave the Mustangs the set (25-17) and the match 3-0.
