Phoenixville, PA - The Valley Forge women's basketball team rolled to a 70-42 victory over the Cairn Highlanders on Monday evening. Just over seven minutes into the game the Patriots took their first double-digit lead of the game and never looked back, cruising to the 28-point victory. Stum led Cairn in scoring for the first time in her career with 11 points on the evening.
Stum finished two rebounds shy of a double-double, grabbing eight rebounds in the game.
Jhanel Brown scored 26 points for Valley Forge with an impressive 12-14 night from the field. Brown also grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds for the double-double.

Valley Forge controlled the tempo from the opening whistle. The Patriots scored the first six points of the contest and eventually took an 11-2 lead. That lead was eventually pushed to 11 points at 17-6 after a pair of buckets from Valley Forge's Brown. The Highlanders were held scoreless over the final three minutes of the first quarter and the Patriots led 20-6 heading to the second quarter.

While Cairn hung with the Patriots throughout most of the second quarter, the Patriots went on a quick 8-0 that spanned exactly a minute late in the half that turned a 12-point lead into a 20-point advantage.
Victoria Stum sunk a pair of attempts from the charity stripe and the Highlanders trailed 36-18 at the break.

After the break, a 7-2 run in favor of the Patriots put the home team up 23 at 43-20.
Charlotte Camp connected an unassisted jumper for Cairn's lone bucket in the early going of the second-half. By the end of the quarter the Highlanders had cut the Patriots' lead to 52-33.

In the final 10 minutes, the Valley Forge lead ballooned to as many as 28 points at 70-42, the final margin of victory.

In the game the Highlanders struggled at a 1-15 shooting performance from beyond the arc, their lowest of the season. Cairn also shot a 16-66 mar (24.2%) from the field, their second-worst percentage of the season (23.1 – Jan. 16 vs. CCNY).
