LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders hosted a tri-match Saturday afternoon against Medgar Evers College and John Jay College, splitting the matches 1-1.

In the first match against Medgar Evers College, Cairn coasted to 3 straight victories, handily taking the first and second sets by scores of 25-10 and 25-7. The Highlanders took another early lead in the third set, as they were up 15-3 through the early stages. The Cougars battled back bringing it as close as one point, but Cairn scored 6 of the last 7 points to sweep Medgar Evers and achieve their 5
th win of the season. Cairn was led in the first set by
Brie Norton who had an impressive 9 aces and 11 digs,
Haley Sheehan who totaled 8 kills and 12 digs, and setter
Liz White who tallied 19 assists.

The Highlanders faced off against John Jay College, who defeated Medgar Evers in the second match, in the final match of the day. Perhaps due to fatigue, the Highlanders struggled a bit against the Bloodhounds, falling in straight sets. The Highlanders were overwhelmed by the demanding presence and chemistry of John Jay's middle hitters and setter Kimberly Rodriguez. Cairn fell in the match 25-20, 25-14, and 25-12.Â
Lyntia Gwess played a solid all-around match with 8 kills and 9 digs, while Norton chipped in with 12 digs as well.
